SURWAAT

The Research Journey

From confused curiosity to published impact. Every researcher walks this path.
At Surwaat, we walk it with you.

Begin the Journey โ†“
STAGE 01

The Spark: Brainstorming Ideas

Every research journey begins with curiosity. Maybe it's a question that keeps you up at night, a problem you noticed, or something that just doesn't make sense. Click on ideas that resonate with you.

๐Ÿ’ก Why do students struggle with math?
๐ŸŒฑ Can we predict crop yields better?
๐Ÿฅ How to improve rural healthcare?
๐Ÿ”‹ Better battery technology?
๐Ÿ“ฑ Social media's impact on mental health
๐ŸŒ Climate change adaptation
๐ŸŽฏ Surwaat helps here:
We help you refine vague ideas into researchable questions. Through workshops and one-on-one sessions, we teach you how to scope problems, identify what's truly novel, and frame questions that matter.
STAGE 02

The Foundation: Literature Review

You can't build without knowing what's already been built. Reading papers feels overwhelming at first, but it's where you discover what's known, what's debated, and what's missing. Click to "read" papers.

Machine Learning in Education
Smith et al., 2023
Found: Personalized learning improves outcomes by 23%
Agricultural Prediction Models
Patel et al., 2024
Gap: Limited data from developing countries
Healthcare Access in Rural Areas
Johnson et al., 2023
Issue: Technology adoption barriers
Battery Chemistry Advances
Chen et al., 2024
Promise: Solid-state batteries show potential
๐Ÿ“š Surwaat helps here:
We teach you how to actually read research papers efficiently, take useful notes, organize your findings, and identify patterns. No more drowning in PDFs. We also connect you with people who know your literature well.
STAGE 03

The Critical Distinction: Hard vs. Unsolved

This is where many get stuck. Some problems are just hard. Others are genuinely unsolved. Understanding the difference is crucial. Drag items to categorize them.

โŒ Hard But Already Solved

HARD PROBLEM
Building a good recommendation system requires engineering skill but methods exist
HARD PROBLEM
Implementing neural networks is complex but well-documented
HARD PROBLEM
Scaling infrastructure is difficult but known approaches work

โœ… Truly Unsolved Research Gaps

TRUE GAP
No one has studied this phenomenon in Nepal's context
TRUE GAP
Existing models fail for low-resource languages like Nepali
TRUE GAP
Current methods don't work with limited infrastructure
๐Ÿ” Surwaat helps here:
We help you distinguish between engineering challenges and research gaps. Through mentorship, you learn to identify what's genuinely novel, what contributes to knowledge, and what's worth pursuing.
STAGE 04

The Toolbox: Choosing Your Methods

Now you know what to study. But how? Surveys? Experiments? Simulations? Analysis? Each tool serves different questions. Click to select tools for your research.

We connect you with mentors who have used these methods. You learn when to use qualitative vs. quantitative approaches, how to design experiments, and how to choose appropriate tools for your specific question.
STAGE 05

The Work: Actually Doing Research

This is the messy middle. Data doesn't cooperate. Experiments fail. Results surprise you. It's normal. It's the process. Watch your research progress.

โš™๏ธ Surwaat helps here:
You're not alone in the trenches. We provide ongoing support, troubleshooting help, and connections to people who can answer your specific technical questions. When you're stuck, we help you get unstuck.
STAGE 06

The Craft: Writing Your Paper

Research is only as good as its communication. Writing forces clarity. Your first draft will be bad. That's okay. Every researcher rewrites, and rewrites, and rewrites.

A concise summary of your entire study. What you did, how you did it, what you found, and why it matters. This is what most people will read first.
Set the stage. Why does this problem matter? What have others done? What's missing? What will you contribute?
Detailed enough that someone could replicate your work. What did you do, step by step, and why?
Just the facts. What did you find? Tables, figures, data. Save interpretation for the discussion.
What do your results mean? How do they fit with existing knowledge? What are the limitations? Where should future research go?
Draft progress: 4,237 / ~6,000 words
โœ๏ธ Surwaat helps here:
We run writing workshops, provide feedback on drafts, and connect you with people who can review your work. Good writing is learned, not innate. We help you develop this critical skill.
STAGE 07

The Leap: First Submission

You've done the work. You've written it up. Now comes the scary part: sending it out into the world. Click the envelope to submit.

Your paper is now under review. This typically takes 2-6 months. The waiting is hard.

๐ŸŽฏ Surwaat helps here:
We help you choose appropriate journals, understand submission requirements, format your paper correctly, and navigate the submission process. Small details matter here.
STAGE 08

The Feedback: Peer Review

Other researchers read your work critically. They'll find holes you missed, question your assumptions, suggest improvements. It's not personal. It's the process.

Reviewer 1
"The methodology is sound, but the sample size seems limited for the conclusions drawn. Can the authors provide more justification?"
Critical Concern
Reviewer 2
"Interesting approach. However, recent work by Zhang et al. (2024) should be discussed. How does your work compare?"
Suggestion
Reviewer 3
"The literature review is comprehensive and the results are compelling. This addresses an important gap in the field."
Positive
๐Ÿ’ฌ Surwaat helps here:
We help you interpret reviewer comments, prioritize what to address, craft professional responses, and revise effectively. Negative feedback can be devastating. We help you process it constructively.
STAGE 09

The Setback: Rejection

Most papers get rejected. Famous researchers have papers rejected. Nobel Prize-winning work was rejected. Rejection doesn't mean your work is worthless. It means it needs improvement or a different venue.

๐Ÿ“ง
Decision: Reject
"While the reviewers found merit in your work, there are concerns about the methodology and additional experiments that would strengthen the claims. We encourage you to address these issues and consider resubmission to another journal."
๐Ÿ’ช Surwaat helps here:
This is where community matters most. We help you process rejection emotionally, analyze feedback objectively, and plan next steps strategically. You're not alone in this. Every researcher faces this.
STAGE 10

The Growth: Iteration & Improvement

Back to work. Address the concerns. Run new analyses. Collect more data. Strengthen your arguments. Your second version will be better. Click to complete improvements.

โœ“
Expand sample size from 50 to 200 participants for statistical power
Add comparison with Zhang et al. (2024) methodology in discussion
Run additional validation experiments to address Reviewer 1's concerns
Rewrite introduction to better position contribution within existing work
Create clearer visualizations for main results to improve clarity
๐Ÿ”„ Surwaat helps here:
This revision phase is where mentorship is crucial. We help you understand what reviewers really want, how to strengthen weak points, and when to stand your ground versus when to adapt.
STAGE 11

The Victory: Acceptance

After months of work, rounds of revision, and moments of doubt, you get the email. Your paper has been accepted for publication. This is what perseverance looks like.

๐ŸŽ‰
Congratulations! Paper Accepted
Your work will contribute to human knowledge. It will be cited, built upon, and become part of the scientific conversation. You did this.
๐ŸŽŠ Surwaat helps here:
We celebrate with you! But we also help you understand what comes next: promoting your work, responding to post-publication feedback, and thinking about your next research questions.
STAGE 12

The Ripple: Making an Impact

Publication isn't the end. It's the beginning of your work's journey. Other researchers read it, cite it, build on it. Your questions spark new questions.
